Form Field Properties

Form fields can be customized to extend the height or width, or to display examples of the type of text that you want the client to enter into the form. Also, when data is passed from the form to your e-mail, the name of the form field is included.

NOTE: It is very important that you pay attention as to how you "Name" your form fields, especially when you are using "Radio Buttons". All form fields should have a different, distinct name, unless you are using Radio Buttons. When using Radio Buttons to make an internet user choose only one item in a group of selections, you'll want to give the same NAME to each Radio Button and a different, descriptive, distinct VALUE to each button.

Resizing your form fields. Here, we will use the Scrolling Text Box to show you how you can obtain a different look. These preferences are available on any form field where the Internet user will be entering in words or numbers.

This is a standard Scrolling Text Box. If you want extend the height and width, simply "right-mouse-click" on the text box and choose "Form Field Properties". You will be brought to a screen that looks like this:

Notice that I have added a name (Comments), Initial Value (Leave comments here) and I have increased the width and number of lines. The NAME is crucial as it will identify this specific field when you receive the e-mail with the form data. The new Scrolling Text Box looks like this:

You may omit the Initial Value if you want a blank Scrolling Text Box.
You can apply the same procedure as demonstrated above, to any of the fields below. Advanced internet users can explore the options behind the "Validate" and "Extended" buttons, as seen in the above image. Remember, the Right Mouse Button can be used to access the properties of any Microsoft ® FrontPage® 2000 component

Final Note: When assigning a NAME to a form field, be short but descriptive.
